Centering, Focusing, Trusting

And this is the plan: At the right time, he (God) will bring everything together

under the authority of Christ—everything in heaven and on earthEph. 1:10 (NLT)

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly thingsCol. 3:1-2 (NIV)

Heavenly Father, I woke up today feeling a bit scattered, confused, and unsettled. The ebbs and flows, opening and closings, hopes and fears of “virus” life are wearisome and exhausting. So I want/need to recalibrate my heart. I want to live more of every day in light of the great Day when everything will be united, peaceful, and complete in Jesus.

What a blessed Day that will be—no more divided self, but a united heart; no more discord in anything, but the beauty of God in all things. No more mask-wearing, cough-fearing, social-distancing days. Just an eternity of perfect health, consummate joy, and all-things-right. No more schedules to keep, but a Triune God to love with everything we have and are. Bring. It. On. Father.

Well before then—even today, you call us to cast our cares on you, and to take our weariness and heavy-laden-ness to Jesus. So right now, on this thirtieth day of April, we do so.

By your Spirit’s help, we choose to set our affection and thinking on Jesus—the author and perfecter of our faith, the Lamb of God and Lord of all things, our Advocate in heaven and Shepherd on this earth. What a beloved, cared-for, hope-secured people we are. Thank you Father, So very Amen we pray, in Jesus’ loving and powerful name.
