When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Matt. 2:10-11

Lord Jesus, on the church calendar, today—January 6th, is the day many Christians honor as “Epiphany.” It’s a celebration of the inextinguishable light of the Gospel breaking into the pervasive darkness of our world—the day Bethlehem’s star led the “wise men” to eternity’s King.

Though I’ve never tasted an “Epiphany cake,” I celebrate today with great joy and deep worship. For you are the Light of the World, the King of all Kings, the Lamb of God who has taken away our sin. Of the increase of your government and peace, there will be no end. Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah!

How ironic, (and irenic), that this is the same day the American Congress will seek to ratify America’s President, for the next 4 years. Lord Jesus, we are SO grateful your reign isn’t tied to the votes of men, but the courts of heaven. You don’t need our ratification; you deserve our adoration.

We join “wise men” bowing, and “loud voices shouting in heaven: ‘The world has now become the Kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign forever and ever’” (Rev. 11:15).

Even as we relish, rest, and rejoice in the epiphany (revelation) of your first coming, we crave the full epiphany of your second coming—when all things will be right, beautiful, and new. So very Amen we pray, in your triumphant and loving name.
