I had the great privilege of preaching on “The Minister’s Legacy” from 1 Corinthians 3:5-9 at this year’s For The Church National Conference held at Midwestern Seminary. I share the video of my message below in the hopes it may interest some.

All of the conference’s plenary talks — from Matt Chandler, Ray Ortlund, H.B. Charles, Jason Allen, Owen Strachan, and Matt Carter — can be accessed here.

Thanks for sharing this, Jared. Look forward to watching. Always appreciate your heart and mind as expressed through your pen and pulpit.

I just glanced at all the talks you linked to and noticed they all start with “The Minister’s…” I take it you all are using “minister” as synonym for “pastor”? If that’s true (please correct me if I’m wrong), why did you all choose to use the more generic term of “minister” (which applies to all Christians, Ephesians 4:12) rather than “pastor” (which is one specific ministry role)?

    1. Jared C. Wilson says:

Chris, we used “minister” — though some speakers spoke directly/specifically to pastors — so that the conference content would be more applicable to all God’s people, especially anyone serving in leadership capacities in and and through the church, not just those who serve as pastors or elders.

      1. Jared C. Wilson says:

Oh, to answer your question: No, we are not treating “minister” as a synonym for “pastor,” but as a broader category under which pastor falls. I addressed most of my message more directly to pastors, but I think it can apply to anyone in ministry.
