(Update: as a commenter points out, CBD has it on sale, for a limited time, for $4.99.)

Just noticed that Amazon has the DVD of The Nativity Story (2006) on sale for 40% off ($8.99). I thought it was an excellent film--great production values and excellent acting. The reconstructions of the architecture, clothing, and landscape seemed especially well-researched. Of course a movie like this has to take some imaginative liberties, but on the whole it was pretty restrained. I’m not sure I’ve seen a better job of portraying Joseph, an oft-neglected character in nativity plays and movies.

My wife and I watch this DVD each year. My favorite part is right when they arrive in Bethlehem and Joseph carrys her around tring to find a place, you can hear a few of the opening measures of “Carol of the Bells”.
