Here’s a look inside a new graphic novel on Martin Luther published by Concordia Publishing House.

Description below:

This is the story, from birth to death, of Martin Luther who headed a revolution that changed the world. From a small town in medieval Germany, the Reformation resulted in dramatic, sweeping change that still echoes today. Here is Luther’s story of adventure, courage, and faith told for the first time in graphic novel style. Scattered throughout the book are informational call-outs of key supporters and enemies of Luther including Frederick the Wise, Katherine von Bora, Charles IV, and many others. Also included is a comprehensive explanation of Luther’s Seal and an extensive history timeline that gives broad context to Luther’s life.
This Luther biography provides an educational and appreciation of Luther and the Reformation in a fun, comfortable format. It’s perfect for adults, children, and classroom use.

    Wow. Luther is really ripped.

  2. All Lutherans look this good, didn’t you know?

    1. Gary H. says:

No, I didn’t. I might need to drink more beer.

  3. Bob says:

Superman must have modeled his poster pose after Luther.

  4. Victor says:

Luther was actually an overweight man. This is so funny.

  5. Anonymous says:

Interesting, it is like a comic version.

  6. Vic, that’s what most people think about Luther because the most familiar paintings of Luther were painted after he had been married for a few years and Katy had put some meat on his bones!

He was actually quite gaunt for most of his life, with a well defined jaw line, and certainly was in 1517.

And, yes, this is a graphic novel.

    1. Tom says:

I once heard a talk on Luther where the speaker suggested you could tell in paintings how far along Luther was in developing his theolgy by how large he was.
Thin and gaunt as a monk trying to earn salvation by fasting and hardship.
Getting larger as he discovered God’s grace, stopped constantly fasting and started to enjoy meat and beer.

  7. Damon Titus says:

Echoes of the Hammer…Good tile for the graphic novel, also a good name for a Heavy Metal Album..

  8. Hugh McCann says:

Will Christian Bale or Chris Hemsworth play M. L. in the flick?

Anthony Hopkins as Cajetan or Eck? Whom to play Tetzel?
