From Crossway:

Between January 8 and January 15, all ebooks on will be priced at $5.99 or less.

This special sale also includes modules, including the ESV Online Study Bible, the Online Global Study Bible, and GreekTools, along with many others. You can find a complete list here. The study Bible modules contain all the study notes, articles, charts, and maps found in the print editions, seamlessly integrated with the interface. . . .

If you’re not quite sure where to start, we’d love to suggest three of our top books from 2012: The Explicit Gospel by Matt Chandler with Jared Wilson, The Hole in Our Holiness by Kevin DeYoung, and Dangerous Calling by Paul Tripp.

More details here.

If you want some encouragement to use the ESV Study Bible (and its concise adaptions, the ESV Study Student Bible and ESV Global Study) in your ministry, here’s a recommendation from Keith E. Johnson, National Director of Theological Education for Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ):

If I could recommend one tool to anyone who wants to study the Word of God, it would be the ESV Study Bible.  Not only does it contain wealth of notes and articles addressing everything from the meaning of individual verses to the big picture of God’s story but all these resources are also available online.  We use the ESV Study Bible as a tool  for training Cru missionaries how to interpret Scripture.

Also, for one week only, WTSBooks is offering a 50% off sale for their 2012 bestsellers:

That the ESV Online Study Bible is included in the list of on-sale modules confused me a little. I’ve been able to access this since buying the print version of the Study Bible and registering for the Web site a few years ago. Does this mean the study notes, etc., are becoming a for-pay feature? I’ll gladly pay for it as it’s well worth it especially at this price.

Thanks for your question, David, and sorry for the confusion.

The ESV Online Study Bible module has always been a premium feature on However, as you noted, the module is free (and will continue to be) with a purchase of any print edition of the ESV Study Bible.

All this to say, the module is on discount this week for those who haven’t purchased a print study bible, but would like to access the ESV Study Bible module on

I hope this helped clear up any confusion!

  2. David says:

    Thanks, Ted, it did!

  3. At, there is no purchase link for the ebook page for Lloyd-Jones “The Assurance of Our Salvation”

    1. Ted says:

Thanks for letting us know, Coty.

I apologize for the confusion there. Unfortunately, that book went out of print a few years ago, and the ebook along with it.

That said, we are planning to re-release the book as a paperback this March.

      Thanks for your comment,

      1. This must be a dumb question – but how can an ebook go out of print when it is not printed?

        1. Ted says:

Not a dumb question at all. I was thinking about it too as I typed “out of print” before. That said, occasionally when a project goes out of digital print it’s because our rights to distribute it have expired. I believe that was the case here. Either that or we wanted to shelf it while we re-packaged it for re-release.

  4. David Teh says:

And Cru highly recommends Rick Warren too……which cast suspicions on their recommendations……..
