“And they devoted themselves . . . .”  Acts 2:42

When the early believers converted to Christ, it never occurred to them to fit him into the margins of their busy lives.  They redefined themselves around a new, immovable center.  He was not an optional weekend activity, along with the kids’ soccer practices.  They put him and his church and his cause first in their hearts, first in their schedules, first in their budgets, first in their reputations, first in their very lives.  They devoted themselves.

Unmistakable evidence that the Holy Spirit was being poured out.

  1. This is a great post.

I feel like today’s society has so devalued such devotion, even within the church, that it is rarely seen.

It’s very refreshing to be challenged to think about the true level of devotion we are called to, and should want to have.

Poured out, used up, completely His. May we all experience this joy.

  3. wow this what the Holy Spirit has been trying to teach me for a long time, any of you who are on here should google these preachers they do not water down the gospel…Paul Washer..he is not too well known, John Piper…and next name is very unknown he has 3 videos on youtube he is very young and very wise..his name is Nate Pfeil..

google them, and see what i mean!!

all these 3 preachers have shown me the Truth, the Life, and the Word ..better than most churches nowaredays :))

p.s. i still attend a very wonderful evangelical congregational church, and i love it there don’t get me wrong, but i love being stretched to the core :)

    thanks for your wonderful blog!!

    Many blessings!

    In His Love, Jane
