After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes and held palm branches in their hands. And they were shouting with a great roar, “Salvation comes from our God who sits on the throne and from the Lamb!” Rev. 7:9-10 NLT
For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea. Hab. 2:14 ESV
Lord Jesus, in a season of international divisiveness, tribal combativeness, and people group arrogance, how we need to blast our hearts with this vision you gave the Apostle John. While Rome was committed to fill the earth with its wanna-be glory, you rose victorious to fill the earth with God’s eternal glory. Hallelujah! History has meaning, and we have hope.
Nations jockey for position and power, but you took the posture of humility and sacrifice. While we try to make ourselves great, you made yourself nothing—taking the place of servant love on the cross. We praise, bless, and adore you. What wondrous love is this, indeed?
Jesus, we long for the Day when the great roar of your every-nation Bride, “Salvation comes from our God who sits on the throne and from the Lamb!”,will drown out all bombast, braggadocio, and boasting. In union with you, there are no little people or big people, no hierarchy of nations or hubris of heart, no dung-worthy people groups or ethnic super groups. We boast, not in our race, but in your grace, Jesus.
