Catholic Discussion

Yesterday I was traveling from Omaha to Los Angeles for the Shepherds’ Conference, so I did not get an opportunity to interact much with the comments on the Q & A thread. I was however tortured as I periodically saw them coming in as I checked my email on my favorite technological toy (Treo).

I believe that the Bible makes a difference between those who are deceived and those who are deceivers (2 Timothy 3.13; Titus 1.10; 2 John 1.7; Rev. 20.10). I also believe that false doctrine cannot be reduced down to some simple and minor variances with little consequence, particularly when talking about the gospel (cf. The Book of Galatians), rather false doctrine has its source in error which is not sourced in God but in Satan (John 8.44). Therefore it is no small thing to deny the gospel of grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone, it is blasphemy, and it brings eternal consequences.

I am not wholly ignorant of the devil’s schemes. I understand that it would please him more than God to have false doctrine promoted to the thousands of folks that come by this site per day and then to have it permanently archived for others to be led astray later. With this in mind I am not willing to give a microphone to Catholics who want to promote false doctrine. If an honest discussion of the gospel and a desire to understand what the Bible says better is what is desired than we can talk off line. You live in my neighborhood David, we could quite easily connect to talk. But I am not willing to subject this cyber-flock to damning doctrine, so I have closed the comments on this post.

As always I am thankful for those men who stood up to promote the truth, I truly value your partnership in the gospel. I was so encouraged to see the repeated Scriptural references as the basis and authority rather than just a theological system as it was so often falsely called.

Let’s gather around the cross to behold the sufficient sacrifice of a sufficient Savior, rejoicing and satisfied in him and him alone. All of this that we might see and savor that which is truly glorious.
