The Lord called me from the womb,
from the body of my mother he named my name…
and he said to me,
“You are my servant, Israel,
in whom I will be glorified.”

– Isaiah 49:1, 3

Just think… God has chosen to be glorified in you! Isn’t that amazing?

Here we are, people who have spent our lives running from God,

rebelling against God,

living as if God didn’t exist…

and God chooses to be glorified in us anyway.

He chooses to reach down, to pull us back from destruction and set us on his path.

The prophet Isaiah marveled at God’s call. He reminds us that God’s call precedes our birth!

People often talk about “destiny.” People feel like they have a purpose to fulfill during their lives. The Bible agrees. And Isaiah lets us know that our destiny is to glorify God.

We, his people, are his servant. We, his people, will be the ones who glorify God now and who will glorify God forever.

How do we glorify God? By doing everything that he commands us to do. On the night before he died, Jesus said that he had glorified the Father by doing the work that God had laid out for him.

What is the work that God has prepared for you?

The Bible teaches that God prepares good works for us to do – all to his glory. How will you glorify God? How will you serve him? How will you honor him? At home? At work? At school? At church?

Prayer: Lord, my heart overflows with thanksgiving that you have called us to be your church – the people who bring you glory. Help me to glorify you in my daily life, to serve you selflessly, to love you fully, and to worship you through my actions and thoughts. Amen.
