  • Brandon Smith and I released a new episode of Word Matters, answering the question “What is Paul’s thorn in the flesh?” from 2 Corinthians 12, with special guest Dr. George Guthrie. You can subscribe to the podcast here: iTunes | Android | RSS
  • I joined Aaron Armstrong this week on his podcast, Reading Writers, to discuss Chesterton, literature, and how the gospel tells a better story.

Kindle Deal: An excellent book, Same-Sex Attraction and the Church: The Surprising Plausibility of the Celibate Life by Ed Shaw, is only $3.99.

Seven of the best articles I came across this week:

1. Matthew Lee Anderson – Why the Church Needs the Infertile Couple. A brilliant and moving essay.

2. Peter Leithart – Evolving Toward AfricaI appreciate Leithart’s encouragement to cultivate a “posture of reception” toward Christians in the global south.

3. Derek Rishmawy – Tweeting Yourself into an Identity. Thoughtful post on how our online interaction changes us.

4. Tish Harrison Warren – Who’s In Charge of the Christian Blogosphere? Tish kicks off an important discussion about accountability, and how, in this new cyber age, too often authority comes not from the church or the academic guild but from popularity.

5. How America Feels About AbortionThe DNC is saying pro-life candidates need not apply. But Democrats, in general, are not so staunchly pro-abortion.

6. Kathryn Schulz – Literature’s Arctic Obsession. I wrote about one of these ill-fated voyages in This Is Our Time. Interesting to see the context in which Arctic exploration took place.

7. Carl Ellis, Jr. – On My Shelf. I always enjoy this TGC series from writers and leaders about the books that have influenced them.
